The InterDoc Staff Week at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, planned for on 30/06-04/07/2025, will be organized jointly by the SUT Doctoral School and the International Exchange Section of the International Relations Office, as part of the “New International Horizons for Doctoral School - NIH4DS” project under the NAWA STER– Internationalization of Doctoral Schools program.
Whole event will be focused on the Enhancing International Collaboration and Research Excellence: Soft Skills, Scientific Writing, and Doctoral Development theme. The event has been designed for doctoral students mainly, and is a unique opportunity for them to learn more about research work within international environment what will be a unique opportunity to develop their scientific and soft skills, what will be confirmed by a certificate of participation. The whole week program (see the draft in attachment) includes workshops on international research project management and a series of practical workshops on scientific writing, including aspects of critical reading / critical writing, integrating sources, learning how to paraphrase without plagiarising, practical session using AI to help with writing, etc. There will also be a panel discussion on the topic of “AI, Quality and Ethics in Scientific Writing / Research.” Doctoral students’ presentations mentioned in the programme will be secured by our (SUT’s) doctoral candidates, but in case you would be interested to share your experience, you are welcome.

The Activity Line is divided into 2 complementary programmes – RIS Fellowships dedicated to Bachelor graduates, Master of Science students and graduates and RIS Talents dedicated to Ph.D. students and postdocs from EIT RIS countries which both aim to promote brain circulation, contributing to enhancing the innovativeness of personnel and development of scientific impact by supporting the creation and diffusion of high-quality new knowledge, skills, competences and solutions to food system challenges.

The main objective of the project is to internationalise and improve the quality of education at the Doctoral School of the Opole University of Technology by supporting doctoral students in conducting research and development work at an international level.
To this end, activities will be carried out in the direction of, among other things, increasing the international mobility of doctoral students and strengthening international scientific cooperation by implementing the following activities:
1) preparation of a Joint PhD degree with PCU Rio from Brazil in two scientific disciplines;
2) organisation of an Interdisciplinary International Summer School;
3) organisation of workshops for supervisors to broaden their competences in the field of international standards of scientific supervision of doctoral students;
4) organisation of foreign internships for doctoral students;
5) large-scale promotion and invitation of candidates from abroad to take up doctoral studies at the Opole University of Technology.
The priority of the project related to the first measure is to develop a unique cooperation in the area of doctoral education with one of the fastest growing economies in the world - Brazil. To this end, it is planned to take legal steps to implement joint degrees and to sign an agreement with the preparation of the documentation necessary to launch the course. Information and promotional materials on education at the PO Doctoral School will be translated into English, Spanish and Portuguese.
The expected result of all the above-mentioned activities will be the internationalisation of the doctoral school existing at the Opole University of Technology since 2019. The long-term result is expected to be the establishment of lasting cooperation of the OUTech Doctoral School with foreign scientific institutions, especially from South America in the field of doctoral student's mobility. The mobilities will open opportunities for both- current and future- doctoral students for international scientific development and increasing the recognition of Poland in the international scientific arena.

An open lecture will be given by Dr. Wahyu Caesarendra on December 15, 2023 (Friday) at 10:00 a.m. in the Senate Room of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The title of the lecture: "Artificial Intelligent Methods for Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering".
The lecture will be a summary of the research work carried out at WM since July this year by Dr. Wahyu Caesarendra from Indonesia under the Ulam NAWA program.
